The Oval Test Track is a six lane, concrete road, 4.71 miles long in the sixth lane. The width varies from 60 feet in the two 3,757 foot straightaways to 64 feet in the 1,800 foot radius curves. The curves are banked progressively from 2 degrees at the inside lane to 36 degrees at the outside lane. The curves are designed to accommodate vehicle speeds from 30 to 140 mph without side thrust. Three heat soak sheds are located on the west side of the Oval.

The Oval Track is used primarily for high speed durability, drive-train and vehicle component endurance test, fuel economy measurements, brake performance, temperature measurements and draw bar pull tests. Vehicle speeds may exceed 140 mph.

The heat soak sheds are used for underhood and fuel temperature evaluations.

The facility may be closed for special testing by the Facilities Coordinator.
